In mathematics and numeracy the pupils are actively involved in their learning and in acquiring the necessary skills. There are clear aims to be achieved in number, money and measure, shape, position and movement and information handling. The use of calculators is introduced and practical work and problem-solving are key elements in the programme. Interactive maths is practised daily. The main scheme is ‘Heinemann Mathematics’ and this is used at all stages of the school following the ‘Inverclyde Curriculum for Excellence ’ programme.
