The Rights Respecting Schools Award

The Rights Respecting Shools Award LogoThe Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) recognises achievement in putting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of a school’s planning, policies, practice and ethos.

A rights-respecting school not only teaches about children’s rights but also models rights and respect in all its relationships: between teachers / adults and pupils, between adults and between pupils.

Gourock Primary has been awarded Rights Respecting School Level 1!

During their class visits, the assessors were very impressed with the knowledge and maturity of our Rights Action Group members and the rest of the pupils in the school. The link to the full report is available here.

We will have our first meeting in October to discuss our plans for working towards Level 2.
